Identify the awarding institution
Record the legal university name from its official website and prospectus. A platform or training partner may promote a programme without being the degree-awarding institution. Ask who issues the final degree and marksheets.
Match programme and session
Use the UGC-DEB portal to check the relevant online or ODL listing. Match the institution, programme title, mode and academic session. Do not assume that a university’s recognition automatically covers every programme it advertises.
Keep your evidence
Save the applicable prospectus, fee schedule, refund policy and recognition listing before payment. Check the university’s official instructions for DEB ID and ABC ID. Use official payment channels and retain receipts.
Check your intended use
Professional registration, overseas equivalence and specific employer or higher-study requirements may involve additional checks. Get written clarification from the relevant authority for your intended use. Rankings and promotional badges are not substitutes for programme recognition.
